How to use Find my iPhone app

The iPhones are known for their ability to store a lot of data, and applications as well as well as being targeted by the thieves. When the search is done, there will be a map appearing showing you the last known location of the handset if it is turned off, but the result will update as soon as it gets turned on and the map will show the current location of the device. It doesn’t really matter if the person having your device currently – if that’s the case – is on the move, because you have the possibility of refreshing the map. You should see a blue dot on a map, indicating the location of your Apple device.

Should you press the blue dot, you will see various options, and the first one is to send a message to it, or to command it to make some sort of noise. This option is perfect if you misplaced your iPhone in doors. Another option is to “lock” it, in case you forgot it at a friend’s house, or in the office, or in any other place where you can easily recover it from. If the device is stolen, this option will prevent the thief from using it, because you’d be remotely setting up a PIN code, and unless the thief is guessing it, they will no longer be able to use the handset.

If you think you can’t recover the device, you can choose to erase all the data on it, with the “wipe” option. Even if the new user managed to take a look at some of the stuff stored, and even use some of it, this will no longer be possible.
